Safety is at the heart of everything we do at Skern Adventure

We are licensed by the Adventure Activities Licensing Authority (AALA) to deliver a range of activities including watersports, climbing, and trekking. Full licence details are available on request, or can be confirmed directly with the AALA.

Across both of our North Devon centres in Appledore and Abbotsham, all activities are delivered by fully trained and qualified instructors. Our recruitment process includes thorough interviews, reference checks, and enhanced DBS checks to ensure every member of our team meets the highest standards.

Safety extends beyond instruction. Many of our wider team — including maintenance, housekeeping, catering, and office staff — are trained in first aid, helping us create a safe, supportive environment for every visitor.

Our catering teams are qualified in food safety and hygiene, and our facilities are regularly inspected by the local Environmental Health Department to maintain consistently high standards.
